It is said that Superman is faster than a speeding bullet. But I am beginning to wonder if that is fast enough in today’s world.
Actually, speeding bullets are clocked in “fps,” feet per second. That sounds mighty fast, but I have pictures that I took showing bullets leaving a 50 caliber machine gun. Yep, stopped in mid-air.
Which brings me back to the question, “How fast is fast enough?”
There’s a flu virus which has been discovered in Mexico. All of a sudden, it is everywhere. In Great Britain, passengers who have been in Mexico are examined before being let into the country.
Think about that. What is the incubation period for the flu? Certainly, it’s not something that can be detected immediately. In today’s world there are no barriers to disease. One can contract a disease one morning, be in another country that afternoon, spend the night in a third country, and presumably infect dozens who, in turn, pass it on to others.
Perhaps that is the reason no country wants to use biological weapons against another. There’s the ricochet effect. Sic a disease on another country and it may come back to haunt you…..real fast.
It appears to me that one thing is surely faster than a speeding bullet….the rate news travels these days. Sometimes that’s a good thing.
